CSA's Career Course: For successful screen testing within the industry you need a great CV, headshots, a show reel, and the right information! This focussed course is targeted at performers aged 16 and up with a desire to expand their screen acting skills and knowledge, and looking to pursue a career in acting. The 2011 course consisted of 5 x 3 hour classes, plus one 6 hour introductory session -"Your Industry", and a show reel shoot.
Students work with improvised scenes and film and television scripts, audition scenarios for film and television, and receive targeted individual performance tuition.
Key focus areas:
• The technical requirements of screen performance.
• Translating stage technique into an effective screen presence.
• Exploration of choices for approaching text and character.
• What to expect on set - the ‘who’s who’ of a film set, film language, etiquette.
• The art of a good audition; preparation, conduct and delivery: 'go-sees', impro auditions, auditioning for commercials and more.
• How to market yourself as an actor: assistance and advice with audition technique, CV, headshots, and showreel preparation.
• Health care for the performer
As of 2011 The Career Course culminates in a show reel shoot . This footage can then be edited into a reel for students promotional useage. After completing the classes Career Course students will receive an ongoing discount of 10% for all weekly classes, masterclasses, and forums with guest speakers, including interstate directors, producers, industry body representatives, and casting agents.
